CryptoCurrency Fraud Shocks The World – The Bitcoin ATM Scam

A new cryptocurrency fraud has shocked the crypto world, acting as a signal for investors to remain cautious of the ongoing scams throughout.

In this recent case of the Bitcoin ATM Scam, an elderly widow who had been tricked into depositing $40,000 into a Bitcoin ATM by a Chace Bank imposter was saved by a Texas police officer who exposed a continuing scam.

The White Settlement Police Department (WSPD) announced on June 19 that they had effectively stopped a Bitcoin ATM scam.

The Scam Story-

As per the report, an elderly woman placing cash into a Bitcoin ATM was observed by a concerned citizen, who reported the incident to their dispatch center. According to the WSPD, the suspect utilized a standard approach used by con artists involved in pig butchering scams: threatening to arrest the victim if she didn’t deliver the money.

To get the woman to a nearby Chase Bank so she could withdraw the money, the offender also made arrangements for a ride service to pick her up. The suspect then took her to a convenience store with an ATM accepting Bitcoin so she could deposit the money.

Surprisingly, even after being caught, the scammer was determined enough to finish his task of looting and instructed the lady to take away the phone from the officer!

This Bitcoin ATM Fraud incident clearly depicts why you should conduct thorough research, stay away from online relations where money is involved, and stay aware while taking any step in the crypto world!
