Democratic donors are urging Kamala Harris, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, to attend a major crypto conference in the United States this fall. This initiative follows former President Donald Trump’s pro-crypto remarks at the Trump Bitcoin Conference 2024, held recently in Nashville, Texas.
The influential Democratic supporters are advocating for Kamala Harris to speak at Blockworks’ Permissionless III conference which is scheduled for October 9-11 in Salt Lake City. Jason Yanowitz, founder of Blockworks, confirmed the push but did not disclose the identities of these Democratic donors.
All About The Crypto Conference
Permissionless III will feature prominent figures such as Chris Dixon from a16z crypto, Michael Novogratz from Galaxy Digital, and Republican Tom Emmer. Yanowitz aims to foster a bipartisan environment at the event to differentiate it from the predominantly Republican tone of Bitcoin 2024.
In mid-July, a16z founders Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz endorsed Donald Trump and pledged donations to PACs supporting him. In contrast, Democratic megadonor Michael Novogratz has shown support for Kamala Harris, challenging race against Trump.
Viewpoint Of Kamla Harris
Kamala Harris has not publicly disclosed her stance on cryptocurrencies yet, although it has been a topic of industry discussion since President Biden announced his intention to withdraw from the presidential elections this time. Reports from July 24 indicated that a major Democratic donor revealed Harris had privately referred to Bitcoin as “money for criminals.”
Recent reports have also highlighted efforts by Harris’ campaign team to mend relations with top U.S. crypto companies like Coinbase, Circle, and Ripple Labs, signaling a potential shift in approach towards the finance industry.
