Industry Titans Circle, Coinbase, and Kraken Spearhead Cybersecurity Initiative

In the cryptocurrency industry among the first group members, there are Coinbase, Circle, and Kraken improve their cybersecurity. For digital asset firms, it is the second information security plus analysis centre to be created in the last two months.

Inside the Elite Ranks of Crypto ISAC’s Founding Members

Consensys, the Solana Foundation and Fireblocks are also the baker’s core members of Crypto ISAC. Crypto-ISAC recently announced its member organizations and they include industry leaders. Precisely, Coinbase and Kraken among crypto exchanges have already joined the association which was established just a few days ago to fight cyberattacks and fraud. (The initial one, SEAL-ISAC was inaugurated last month.)

Wednesday, the group announced that Circle, the second biggest stablecoin, issuer of USDC, is also a member of Crypto ISAC. The Solana Foundation, the steward of development for the 5th ranked crypto; Consensys, a major player in Ethereum’s software development; Ribbit Capital, a venture investor; Fireblocks, a crypto custody expert; Evertas, a creator of crypto-theft insurance and the organization responsible for creating ISAC are also part of this group.

Currently, Information Sharing and Analysis Centers (ISACs) are commonly found in sectors like financial services, defence, and aviation. They are like neighbourhood watch programs because they exchange knowledge about cybersecurity vulnerabilities and incidents among firms and the government.

From Lawless to Legitimate: Crypto ISAC Aims to Win Government Trust

Crypto ISAC isn’t just about preventing cyberthreats but also establishing itself as a legitimate and trustworthy organization in the eyes of the government agencies and security authorities since it has been seen traditionally so lawless. Some $1.7 billion got stolen by cyberpunks from crypto platforms in 2023 according to Chainalysis a blockchain-sleuthing corporate.

At CoinDesk’s 2024 Consensus event in Austin, Texas on Wednesday, senior security executives from Circle, Coinbase, Consensys, Fireblocks, and Solana will come together to talk about their roles in the ISAC. They will be joined by Justine Bone, an information security maverick who was recently appointed as the director of the organization and Jared Gdanski, founder and CEO of Evertas.
