McDonald’s Singapore, in collaboration with Bandwagon Labs, has launched the ‘My Happy Place’ metaverse, allowing users to build virtual burgers, engage in activities, and earn rewards using Web3 technologies.

The program to construct this software was done in collaboration between McDonald’s Singapore and Bandwagon Labs— the meta-verse subsidiary under an entertainment news technology brand called Bandwagon.

Clarence Chan, Founder of Bandwagon Labs, said that the major reasons behind coming up with the metaverse for McDonald’s:
“It’s multiplayer where players can see others in the world with them. The metaverse is a creative canvas where we let users flex their creativity. And thirdly, it’s packed with daily rewards with different challenges that trigger a reward mechanism.”
Moreover, Web3 technology is used to enhance safety, usefulness, and employment in holding digital collectables. For instance, Chan mentioned, “When we integrate wallet hosting services such as MetaMask into our systems, one can verify their identity safely and involve themselves in using tokens in virtual worlds or online gaming environments”.
A New Metaverse Adventure in Singapore
McDonald’s has declared in public that it has full dominion over its in-app metaverse. From June 6 to July 7, the design will be available to the public for testing purposes naught else. If this trial run runs smoothly then there shall be no other deployment planned going forward but without success, there will be no more services offered thereafter.
Chan got married in the metaverse and endorsed the technique for its customer retention and fan engagement potential. Nonetheless, he observed that nowadays metaverse experiences are heavily reliant on third-party hosting.
“Adding to that, the lack of tangible rewards for people who utilize metaverse sometimes can discourage a large chunk of the audience.”
